Charging Port Flex Cable Failure

The Solution

Replace the iPhone 11 charging port (Lightning connector flex cable).

Repair Steps

Step 1: Power Down & Preparation Turn off the iPhone completely. Remove the SIM card tray using a SIM eject tool. Tools Used: SIM eject tool Step 2: Remove Bottom Screws Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver. Remove the two screws beside the charging port. Tools Used: P2 Pentalobe screwdriver Step 3: Soften Display Adhesive Apply heat around the screen edges for 2–3 minutes (≈80°C). Focus on the bottom edge first. Tools Used: Heat gun or hairdryer Step 4: Open the Display Assembly Attach a suction cup near the bottom edge. Gently pull upward to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening pick. Slide around the edges (do not insert deeper than 3mm on the left side). Open the screen from left to right like a book. Tools Used: Suction cup Plastic opening picks Step 5: Disconnect Battery and Display Cables Remove the metal bracket covering the connectors. Disconnect the battery cable first (important for safety). Disconnect display and sensor cables. Tools Used: Y000 Tri-Point screwdriver Plastic spudger Step 6: Remove the Taptic Engine and Speaker Unscrew and remove the Taptic Engine. Remove the loudspeaker to access the charging flex cable. Tools Used: Phillips #000 screwdriver Plastic spudger Step 7: Remove the Charging Port Flex Cable Disconnect all flex connectors attached to the charging port. Carefully peel the flex cable from the frame. Remove screws securing the Lightning port. Lift out the old charging port assembly. Tools Used: Phillips #000 screwdriver Plastic spudger Tweezers Step 8: Install the New Charging Port Place the new charging port flex cable into position. Align the Lightning port with the frame cut-out. Secure screws and reconnect all flex cables. Tools Used: Replacement iPhone 11 charging port flex cable Phillips screwdriver Step 9: Reassemble the Device Reinstall the loudspeaker and Taptic Engine. Reconnect display and battery cables. Reinstall metal brackets. Apply new waterproof adhesive if available. Close the screen and press firmly around edges. Reinstall bottom Pentalobe screws. Insert SIM tray.
